What happens when one of the greatest companies in history decides to disrupt the Public School lunch industry? You get iMunch.

About the Project

When tasked with the research project to figure out how a company like Apple could influence the public school system and offer a better lunch service for K-12 students all across the United States, I designed the concept of iMunch. And it starts with redesigning the school lunch box.

The Stats: 38% of high school students skip breakfast. 60% of kids in rural areas skip breakfast everyday. Children who eat breakfast everyday have a lower BMI than those who eat on occasion, and 75% of schools in the United States reported meal plan debt in 2017.

Product Insights

Pain Points: Traditional Boxes fail to maintain hot and cold temperatures. Liquids often leak through the sides. Kids frequently lose their lunch boxes and they also often need to be cleaned. Most lunch boxes fail to prevent spills. Lunch boxes with soft exteriors allow food to get smashed and the materials are often difficult to dry.
